Hearty congratulations on getting us a full four years of excellence. Happily
I will be at the Comicon and really looking forward to seeing you, HE, and WK.
Do you (or anyone out there) know what your schedule would be this weekend? Is
it going to be Friday, Saturday and Sunday?

Thanks, Sally

Jeff,

<that 88 episode contract with TNT gave me plenty of reason to think it would
be around another year. That same 88 episode contract is what worries me about
season 5 though. :-(>

Where did you hear that the contract with TNT was for 88 episodes? All I
heard was that they'd bought the rights to B5 WHEN IT WAS FINISHED (year 5) to
rebroadcast.

Actually, TNT had the rights to B5 at a point after 88 episodes, yes,
BUT...WB had the option within that contract to produce only 66 episodes and
still get the same deal.

Sb: #Timeline Inconsistency
Fm: JOHN M. KAHANE

     Hullo, Joe,

I've been working on the B5 Timeline that I've been assembling, and have
come across an interesting set of inconsistencies. These inconsistencies stem
across "Messages From Earth" straight through to "A Late Delivery in Avalon,"
and have ramifications for all sorts of other episodes. So, here goes....

At the end of "Dust to Dust," G'Kar is imprisoned for his actions against
Londo, and told that the imprisonment will last for a period of around 60 days,
or 8 and 1/2 weeks. We can speculate that "Exogenesis" takes place about 1
week after "DtD," and we know from that episode that Mary Kirkish is the
package that Marcus is expecting, which will arrive about "a week later." That
places "Messages From Earth" about a week after "Exogenesis," right? Which
makes sense, because we learn in "Messages" that G'Kar's incarceration has been
about two weeks already. Even if there is a hint in "Messages" that it takes
place about 6 weeks after "Voices of Authority".... You start to see the
dilemma?

Now, "Point of No Return" would seem to take place about 3 weeks after
"Messages," but this can't be right simply because it would be more accurate to
call it a week or so later. And we know that martial law on Babylon 5 is
declared on April 9th, 2260, because Sheridan dates this during his speech of
announcement. The business with the Nightwatch being betrayed by Zack in the
docking bay occurs early the next morning, so that's the 10th of April.
"Severed Dreams" implies, via the ISN reporter's statement, that Clark declared
martial law 5 days ago, so that would imply that Clark declared martial law on
Earth about the 6th of April. Which means that "Severed Dreams" takes place
about the 12th of April? How's that so far?

The problem being that in "Point of No Return," G'Kar is released by
Garibaldi with three weeks to still serve, meaning that he's served 5 weeks or
so by this time, clearly impossible if the dates I've mentioned above are
correct.

But what does this do with the dates for "Sic Transit Vir" and "Ceremonies
of Light and Dark"? Based on some of the statements made by Delenn and Boggs
in "Ceremonies," it seems reasonable to assume that this episode occurs two or
three days after "Severed Dreams." But we know that "Sic Transit Vir" was
filmed before it, and is dated at the beginning of the episode as being July
3rd, my birthday btw, because Ivanova is told the time and date when she wakes
from her dream of walking naked into C&C. So any chance of you helping out
with the dates for all this, and a clearing up of some of the timeline here for
me? Please...

The only thing I can clear up is that Sic Transit was *not* filmed prior
to Ceremonies, the filming order was Severed, Ceremonies, Avalon and Vir.
Other than that, you're on your own.

                                                                    jms
