I know you've probably been asked this a ga-jillion times before, but
with filming on season four starting up, I thought it might be a good
time to bring this up for those of us (me included) who haven't heard
the answer: Approximately how long does it take to produce a completed
episode of Babylon 5, from start of filming to when it's ready to go on
the air?

And for that matter, how long does it generally take you to write an
episode (from the time you actually start committing words to computer
screen/paper - I presume that you toss ideas around in your head for a
while before you actually turn them into concrete episodes)?

Thanks for humoring me!

- Ellen Caldera

Once I start writing, it takes me about 7-10 days to finish a script.
Usually scripts are done several weeks before preproduction begins. Prep
then starts about 2 weeks prior to shooting. Shooting takes 7 work days.
Post takes on average 52 days.
