Well, now that Foundation is not doing the EFX, I thought up a couple
of computer geeky questions:

Who exactly owns the 3D models, the textures, all the stuff that
Foundation made for the EFX in the episodes? I assume you or Warner
Bro. does. Part of the reason I ask is, I swear I saw some models or
parts of models in Hypernauts.

Are the new guys (NDE) still using Lightwave 3D/Video Toasters etc.?
It would be a major pain to try and convert all the 3D models over into
a new format. Also, I'm a Lightwave fan . . .

BTW, I'm really dissapointed in Foundation, I thought that they were
outside that whole "Hollywood" attitude. I thought that perhaps there
was some loyalty to B5 there. Guess I was wrong.

Finally, it is just me, or does it seem that Babylon 5 can't get a
break? You finally get some well deserved recognition, and "BLAM",
something else blows up. *Sigh*

The show belongs to Warner Bros. So any images that appeared
in the show are owned by WB. As to the models, that depends on the
contract. My guess is that Babylonian Productions kept the rights to
those. I know that FI will no longer do anything B5 related.

NDE is using the same setups as FI did.

	This isn't a Bad Thing(tm). It's a change. So was Delenn's
hair. Every major change that JMS has made to this show has worked
out very well in the end. I look forward to seeing what NDE can do,
personally.

WB owns it all. WB owns the copyright on B5 (as does every studio
producing a series, as Paramount owns ST), and anything produced in the
process of making that show.

"Part of the reason I ask is, I swear I saw some models or parts of models
in Hypernauts.""

Very likely. I think the rule is that if you change it more than 50%, you
can use it for secondary purposes.

"Are the new guys (NDE) still using Lightwave 3D/Video Toasters etc.? It

I'm reasonably sure it's all been ported over to a PC platform, but it's
still Lightwave. These are the latest machines off the line, and they're
extremely fast and powerful.
