Why on earth did JMS age these kids ?

There would have been just as much drama if they had aged normally ( and be 
what now ? 6-ish )

Their current adult guardian ( a new Stacey relative ) could have turned up 
and done the same "angry at Peter" shtick that the kids are doing.

It could be revealed they are really Norman and Gwen's kids.

Peter has the agony of seeing Gwen's little treasures be handed over to evil 
Norman to be raised as sick and twisted individuals.

No stupid magic aging science - same effect.

Probably more long-term story material.
