Why did telepaths begin to arise among humans?  If you choose *not* to
answer (or to answer obliquely as you did before), is this something
that we'll eventually know the answer to?

He's been somewhat evasive about this for three years now.  I'd guess
that this is critical to the story, and that the time has not yet been
reached for this to be exposed.  He has said a few things on it, I'd
suggest you do a search on hyperion to find the things that he's said
in the past.
