Re: Minipax lady: Those kind of folks are scary. No true inner
convictions, or at least a failure to face life head on and deal
with the deeper questions. Just floating along through life,
leading others along a slippery path, changing beliefs with the
times as one would change a hat with a new outfit, thinking they
are in control while being used by whoever has the mind to
manipulate them.

Re: the rat picture: glad it amused you. Were you _bemused_ by
the fact that people actually have pet rats? They're born and
raised in captivity and are very sweet, clean, personable pets
(much nicer than hamsters and gerbils). If you ever need a few
for scenes in down below, just have the casting director give my
rat girls a call - they'll work for sunflower seeds! :-)

Joe,

Sorry, but I am a little confused on this issue (not to be taken
that I am confused about sex in general, just alien sex). Just to
clarify, Centauri males have four organs that are stored in the
abdomen area. Do they protrude or extend from what would
correspond (on humans) from the navel area or groin area?

Where are the Centauri female orifices located and do they have
more than one?

Actually, Centauri have six. They extend out from the sides of
the body, and "fold" in over the solar plexus when not in, er, use.
(We actually saw one extended for other purposes in the first season,
"The Quality of Mercy.") Female Centauri have six...er...slotted areas
on either side of the spine, just above the hips, three on either side.

To go any further would probably bring in the FBI.

Joe:

Well, even though I don't see the episodes till Thursday, there
were some things I noticed that no one else has mentioned yet.

First, on my second viewing I caught the name of the ship Musante
left on. The Loki--The Norse god of mischief. Very nice touch!

Second, I liked the refit of the White Star. However, it did seem
a little thin on the crew, particularly since they were going into
such danger.

Did you script the look of admiration Marcus gives Ivanova after
she gets her answer from the Walker?

Musante's speech to the Nightwatch--were you reading some of Herr
Hitler's speeches before writing that? As a history major, it
brought up a lot of nasty associations. It was particularly scary
about the correctional institutions to catch troublemakers while
they're young.

Thanks for a great show. I'm *really* looking forward to
Messages.

Yeah, the Loki was a little nod, sort of appropriate to who she
was.

The crew you see on the White Star doesn't reflect those in other
parts of the ship. Also, being fairly advanced, it doesn't require a
big crew in command. You could even fly it single-handedly if it came
to that.

And yes, the historical parallels are definitely there.

                                                                  jms

You really have to wonder how spineless or scared these Night
Watch people are. It seemed to me that everyone was looking
around in disbelief yet no one said anything except Zack. Yet at
the end of the ep, it seems that Zack has fallen completely under
the influence of the political officer. So, once again, it
appears that there are no brakes on the NightWatch people at the
station.

It appears at this point to me that JMS is setting Zack up to be
a mole in the war council or to suffer a simliar fate as the
squadron commander (sorry I can't remember his name) suffered at
the end of last season.

On the other hand, Zack *didn't* rat out the code 7-R stuff to
her in any detail. He's absolutely caught between the two sides, and
not sure which way to jump.

Zack is *very* well done. After seeing the ep, we're still not
sure what he's going to do. And he's so keyed up and vulnerable
to attack from that Mata Hari blonde from MiniPax. She was great.
My son kept saying, "She looks like a tiger." Those eyes.

Still giggling over that "cold in here" line of Sheridan's. BB's
delivery was perfect. And her expression at breakfast, spearing
those melon balls and making sarcastic remarks about Sheridan's
negotiating ability. She's got great facial expressions.

*Gorgeous* effects! I loved this episode. What a great one to
come out of reruns with.

I have to admit that I was a bit puzzled when Zack and
Garibaldi were talking about the Clark tape. Zack said he hoped
they got the people who made the tape, thinking the allegations
were false. Why didn't Garibaldi just remind him that Garibaldi
got shot in the back when he uncovered the conspiracy? It
certainly seemed from "Chrysalis" that most of the staff knew what
really happened. Or was Zack not around then and they've kept it
from him because of his Nightwatch involvment?

You have to remember that all Garibaldi's people knew was that a
few guys came through the station that may have been involved in the
assassination. That is NOT the same thing as showing that Clark is
involved. There was no apparent connection. We the audience suspect
it, from what happens, but until now there has been no evidence of it.
So yes, they know that Santiago is dead; that there's some indication
that he may have been assassinated...but that's a long way from
pointing to Clark.

I remember the other cardgame in TQOM. My wife and I nearly died
laughing and my kids kept asking "What? What?"

Thanks most kindly for the info.

What are Narns like? Minbari? Drazi? Markab?

I think that the most fascinating part of all this is how you got
us to think that the Centauri were just like us and the Narn were
so alien. We believed that Londo was the likable clown and G'Kar
the villain. The first episode started with a Narn attack on a
Centauri farming colony for cryin' out loud! The Centauri turn out
to be alien monsters and the Narn turn out to be a noble people.
G'Kar is a powerful and sympathetic character, no less
sympathetic for his otherworldliness. You're a master at your
craft, sir!

BTW, how did you get away with showing that part of Centauri
anatomy in TQOM? Were the censors asleep? Did you bribe them? Or
were they just clueless?

As for the tentacles...well, there's no rules about showing
tentacles on TV. I think they didn't even want to deal with it. There
are some moments when they pretend they didn't see it, and I pretend I
