>>This is really one of the great myths of B5...that because of the ongoing
story, you need to have all this advance work, or be online, or have seen every
episode to follow the story.<<
I saw WWE II with someone who had never seen B5 before. It confused
the heck out of him--but he did love Zathras.<g> (And he'll probably start
watching the repeats in '98, but doesn't have enough time to devote to it now)

Yeah, as I think I indicated, WWE is probably the one most in need of
prior episodes, but in general, the rule applies.

Joe,
Sorry if you are getting fed up with people asking you that question. I
guess the only reason I did is because I (like most people here), avidly
follow every twist of the great roler-coaster ride of a plot that is B5, and
it concerns me that we might not reach the end of that ride due to
circumstances beyond your, (and indeed most other people's) control. Still,
I have faith that you shall get to tell the whole story. Sorry for making
you type yet another reply saying exactly the same thing that several other
replies before have, if it inconvenienced you at all.

That sounds worrying. I hope it doesn't come down to excessive cuts. Though if
the violence increases maybe it'll persuade C4 to move B5 to a later timeslot
sans cuts. Here's Hoping.
ASide to that how much time do Channel 4 have to do the 'required' edits before
it's broadcast ?
Cheers
Darran
p.s. Channel 4 now have a Web page which is receiving a lot of mail from B5
fans more so than any other program currently broadcast on C4.

We usually get "censor-check" copies to C4 about 2-3 months ahead, so
there's plenty of time to make any edits.

Joe,
I am currently reading book #6 and am rewatching the first and second seasons
and I have a question:
In the books, the Narns are referred to over and over as having conquered,
exploited, and enslaved other, less technologically advanced, worlds (making
them no better than the Centauri). Is this accurate?
Thanks,
Dave

They had a brief period after the Centauri got driven out where they were
throwing their weight around, yes. Didn't last long, though.

jms,
Could you please answer the following questions if you have the time. Both of
them have been plaging me for ages now.
1. When was the Earth-Minbari war ? Was is 2242-2247, was it 2245-2248. And it
was the DSEV Amundsen that fired, was it not ?
2. How many (roughly) Alien races are in the League Of Non-Aligned Worlds ? Are
there just the ones in the B5 Counsel ? Or are there a few more ?
Many thanks,
Richard

Fm: J. MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI
The Earth/Minbari war ended in 2247, and there were several ships in the
initial contact convoy, the Amundsen and the Prometheus.
The membership in the League varies widely and frequently, so a good
count is difficult.

I and others have noticed that the Shadows do not form jump points, just kind
of move in and out of hyerspace. The Vorlons use jump points. The other ancient
race shown may not even use hyperspace. The shadows also seem to have some
advanced form of stealth. They move in and out of the visible relm as they
desire. Based on the use of the cameras in the holding cell it is not just a
PSI ability, light just does not reflect off of them.
Now could this all relate back to a newspaper headline you dropped in front of
us a while back "Is there something living in hyperspace?". A race of critters
who started out in hyperspace? Who could have let them out?

No, they didn't exactly start out in hyperspace, but they were among the
first to get into it, and they know a lot of tricks in and out and around it.

Will we ever see more of the Centauri Prime future line (around the time of
Sheridan's 'visit')?
Waay back when Signs & Portents was first shown, you said your notes were
detailed enough that you knew who was in the shuttle seen escaping the
self-destructing Babylon-5. Now that that future has been avoided, would you
care to enlighten us?... (I know you don't like parallel universe type
questions, but you brought it up first. And it may still have a parallel to
the current event line...)
Hope your getting to enjoy some time off,

"War Without End 2": Wow, what an episode! Now I can't wait for the Final Five
to find out what's next, and what mysteries remain among the people whose
futures and fates we've seen.
_B5_ is a show that has been filled with homages and tips of the hat. JMS has
said that the interior shots of the planet below B5 are just coincidentally
like those of Altair IV, and has not responded to my suggestions that Zathrus
learned English from Yoda, or that B4 spacesuits were designed in _2001_, but
there have been lots of acknowledged references, from the Streibs (and the
"Grey"-like creature in court) to PsiCop Alfred Bester and the Rangers.
Now, I've been off the forum for a while (as evidenced by that lateness of this
posting), so maybe someone can tell me if JMS has acknowledged the
inspirational influence of the famous French dramatist Georges Feydeau
(1862-1921) on this episode.
I rate this episode as FOUR DOORS out of four! He certainly had *me* faked out
with those blue suits! (I think that there may also have been some visual
references to the _Doctor Who_ episode "The Horns of Nimon," which itself was a
tribute to panto shows.) Cheers, --CM

I've never seen the Dr. Who ep you mention, and I'm at an utter loss to
call any of Feydeau's work to mind, so that may answer the question.
