Joe,

 >> We're just waiting until there's a slight lull in memberships so we won't
have to do too many multiple mailings. <<

That's both good and aggravating to read... I'm glad the club is drawing lots
of response, and I WANT my newsletter. After all, I mailed my check the first
day your message appeared here, and still haven't heard a thing. <sniff, sniff>

On a possibly related subject: You've said that the fan club might (or would?)
issue B5 videos. A call to our ABC station last week got the info that the
network has cancelled Hypernauts. If nobody else picks it up, is there any
chance that the B5 fan club could issue the completed episodes as videos? I
think there are several that were not broadcast, and I miss the series
already...

There's no relation between B5 and Hypernauts, and it would be
contractually impossible for us to do tapes of that show. Still trying to work
out the B5 tapes at present.

Hello.

I was struck with a thought after viewing "Interludes & Examinations" a few
times that I just had to point out. It's not really a question, but I suppose
I am looking for some sort of acknowledgement... :-)

I know you often put in a lot of parallels and irony and the like as part of
your toolbox. When Kosh was frightened and then realized that he *had* to do
as Sheridan asked (it was time) and *knew* what faced him when he did it.....
it seemed to me to be a lot like that final chance at redemption of which Lady
Morella spoke to Londo in "Point of No Return." Something along the lines of,
"You must face your greatest fear, knowing it will destroy you."

Was this little parallel intentional? And if so, is that worth noting for
later or was it just one of the many tools you employ?

Thanks!

Not an intentional parallel, no, but often to achieve something, one must
decide if it's more important than one's life. That's kind of descriptive of
the whole of human history, frankly....

Joe,

Quick queston on Kosh's ship. Hope I haven't missed this asked already. Was his
ship made/created for him?? and if so was it as old as he was?? One of the
reasons I am asking is if his ship could learn/adapt like the Whitestar and was
as old as he was it would have to be a pretty tough ship to have survied that
long and would be a waste of a good weapon to not hangon to it. Thanks.

It was made for Kosh, as Delenn points out, was almost a part of him; it
wouldn't function as well, if at all, for anyone else. There was nothing else
to be done.

                                                                     jms

I had thought of putting together a sort of "highlight" reel of all the
important events and story elements over the first 3 seasons, but gave up after
trying to condense the pilot. I got it down to 40 minutes, but, (1), it
doesn't do the narrative justice, and (2) there's just so much being seeded
there. The excercise was valuable in that I picked up a few extra bits I
missed on previous viewings.

There's no doubt that you have created something very special, and I look
forward to seeing the culmination. The entire 5 year saga will really be
something to own and experience again and again. Not only because it's a
wonderful story, but when one considers the obstacles you've overcome to bring
it to the screen, it becomes all the more special.

Bravo, Joe. Bravo, and thank you.

Fabulous episode...
3 questions though
One, who was Londo's controller... A Shadow?, Morden?, we saw an eye open but
it looked like G'Kar's.
Two, who did Delenn see in Sheridan's quarters? In the future of that timeline,
did they have a daughter?
Three, Zathras was fantastic, Tim Choate has that character nailed, my nine
year old and five year old are still doing his dialogue. I think they identify
with him ("No one listen to Zathras") Will we see him again?

Thanks

The eye was of the keeper on Londo's shoulder, you can see G'Kar's
fingers gripping a part of it. It woke up.

The other questions will have to wait, and be answered in the series.

Actually...incorrect. Whenever there's a timeflash, people see one thing
or another. When Sinclair and Garibaldi first came aboard, there was a
timeflash. We saw what Sinclair saw, we have no idea from that scene what
Garibaldi saw. No reason he couldn't have seen something from about that same
period. It wasn't stated either way at the time.

Hi,

I had a question or two. Delenn showed "video" from almost a thousand years
ago when their base got destroyed. I saw Minbari war cruisers flying around
which looked like the current design. Why hasn't the design changed? Ritual?
Also, where did Sinclair get the scar? I thought the Lucy Ethel thing was
great. Sheridan should have said to Sinclair," OK, but YOUR Ethel!"
Could you please 'Splain this to me, Lucy?

The design *has* changed; the main section is much longer, and more
primitive looking, less tricked out. You can see a bit of it there, but you
will see them in more detail in part two.

Sinclair was scarred during ranger training duties.

Joe,

In WWE2, at the very end, the vorlon encounter suite that was to OUR right of
Sinclair/Valen, looked much like the late Kosh's suite. Could that have been
our favorite vorlon back 1000 years ago? The one on our left was obviously not
(it looked much like the one on Mimbar at the beginning of WWE1).
