I went to the new, titanic, Barnes & Noble bookstore in Nashua, from which I
had ordered Joe's "Scriptwriting" book.

The check-out celrk was an older lady who looked like somebody's grandma, with
glasses on an elastic string around her neck and a print dress.

As she pulled the book out of the special-order rack, sha said
conversationally "There are an awful lot of those, aren't there?"

So I responded that this one had me interested because the guy who wrote it
actually does this stuff for a living: "He's the creator and producer of a
science fiction TV show called _Babylon_5_." I siad. "Mind you, I'm not
getting it because of that, I'm getting it because he knows how to write a
script."

Well, she lit up like a Narn with a new Louisville slugger! "Oh, he certainly
does!" she said. "I think that's the best, the most beautifully written thing
on the air! And of course, when the five years is up, I'll be heartbroken."

I allowed as how I was beginning to look forward to the five years being over
so we would have something complete and whole, and she agreed that that was
desirable...

"But I shall miss the Narn," she said. "They're so beautifull! I'd rather be
them than us -- in terms of looks, I mean, not their current viability as a
race!"

It's quite a thing you've meade here, Joe.....
