Hi Joe:

Just thought you'd be interested in a couple of minor B5 sightings in the
September issue of Internet World.

The first one is in an article about various sites that allow netheads to write
group stories: "If you prefer Melrose Place to Babylon 5 then The Thread is the
place for you."

The second reference is in an article about properly placing net references in
a bibliography. It uses a message from you on the moderated newsgroup as the
example reference for documenting usegroup messages.

Both references are located in key places. The first one is blown up as the
teaser on the page (pg 36) and the second is located just below a subscribtion
insert that's bound in -- the "Straczynski" leaps off the page at you (pg 73).

I know this isn't anything like winning The Hugo, but it's nice to see that you
have a friend or two at the magazine slipping in those little references that
subliminally get peoples attention.

Jeff

Thanks for letting me know that...our viewers are wonderfully subversive
that way....

>> Well, you can email John Copeland about it at pigdog13 at aol.com, but
basically, we're still waiting on approval from WB before putting the new
areas on-line <<

Is it John I should bug if I'm having trouble with the web pages? I can't
get past the demographics page -- I get an error telling me that the url
requested isn't available or that the server has refused to give it to me
(I'm using Netscape 2.02).

<< as WB doesn't allow screenings in front of large audiences. >>

This must be a new rule they came up with since last year's showings
of a certain episode from the final four of season two. It's either that or WB
has a strange (and often changing) definition of large audience. Ok, so there
is a third option here, you could be fibbing too; but I thought I'd be nice,
for once. <G> I guess whatever you bring will just have to suffice (as long as
you make sure you get there in one piece)
Anyway, I'm definately looking forward to the con; about as much as I'm
looking forward to the new episodes on my new 51" tv. (I just loooove this
Pioneer wide screen tv) See you live and in person in about two weeks!!!

May the Light shine forever,
Rich

No, what happened since the final 4 showing was this....

At some convention, one of the folks involved with Lois and Clark showed
an episode. As there were about 500 or so people in the room, one of the guest
stars decided that this constituted a theatrical showing, and under SAG rules,
additional (and very massive) fees are required when that happens. That single
showing ended up costing WB about $100,000. So they've clamped down hard on
con showings since then.

                                                                    jms

The best way, at this juncture, to learn Minbari would be to travel
there. I've worked out a basic structure to the language, but not in
sufficient detail to write about it coherently here or elsewhere.

                                                                    jms

They're *definitely* unlicensed, pirated products. Bad enough they're
illegal, worse they're generally of appalling quality.

Joe,

Do you plan to make the B5 scripts available in book form at some point? I
know I would enjoy reading them and imagine others would too.

BTW, I just saw "The Coming of Shadows" and really enjoyed it, especially the
storyline about G'Kar and Andreas Katsulas's performance. Congratulations on
the Hugo.
