I have a question.

I have recently discovered the SF of Jack McDevitt. I started with
_Engines of God_, then read _Ancient Shores_, and am now moving backwards,
reading _A Talent for War_, which was published in 1989.

I've been enjoying _A Talent for War_ quite a bit. After I got into it I
found my mind wandering to B5 -- the scope of the book and its being good
hard SF were what drew B5 into my mind, I think. Immediately after I made
that connection, I turned the page and encountered a war ship called the
Straczynski. I almost swallowed my teeth.

Is there some connection? Are you and Jack McDevitt connected in some way
beyond both being wonderfully inventive SF writers?

Thanks!

Priscilla

Yeah, the Starship Straczynski is in Jack's novel as a result of a charity
auction. I could never do it in my own work, but the idea of a starship
with that name was very funny to me, and I held my own in the auction
(this was a long time ago) against a woman with an even longer and more
convoluted name than my own to get that one.
