Watching DS9 this week, I realized one of the reasons I like B5 so
much is that you (Joe) would *NEVER* pull a stunt like this:

We pick up a distress call from a lady captain who crashed somewhere
because of some wierd "subspace metrion energy field" around a planet
which is barely habitable. We spend the whole episode talking to her
as she gradually succumbs to CO2 poisoning, ariving just in the nick
of time to find that...

( At this point, I'm thinking it might be a trap, or she's not who she
says she is, or maybe we're just a shade too late -- any of which would
have made a decent story line, but the way it really ran was: )

...she's been dead for three years and change, because the wierd field
was "time-shifting" her communication signal.

Aside from it being yet another blatant abuse of science to set up a
plot point, I can't even come up with a reason to do it that way! So
thank-you, Joe, for writing the only SF show I know where everything
makes some kind of damn-fool sense, even if we son't "get" it at the
time. It means a lot to many of us.
