[LUGSB] Tunneling News Through Something...

As anyone who has lived on campus knows, the news
server(news.ic.sunysb.edu) sucks.  I have an account with optonline, and
a server running debian sitting at home.  I would like to somehow
connect to my server and have it connect to optonline's news server
(news.optonline.net) so that I can browse news and download binary
files.  The trick is that I don't want to save anything on the server. 
This is partly because it would introduce a bit of inefficiency, I only
have about 200 megs free on the server.  :o)  I'm pretty sure that SOCKS
will do this, but having never used SOCKS I'm not sure.  Any ideas,
suggestions, or rumors are appreciated.
