I opted to spoof the mac address of my desktop machine so that it
matched the mac of the laptop. That worked fine using 'ifconfig eth0 hw
ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx'. I then registered that mac using konqueror,
after some difficulties using mozilla at
http://register.resnet.sunysb.edu. Now I'm just waiting for the
registration to go through so I can get a real IP and install debian.
Thanks for your help.
