Knoppix kicks ass. I'm actually using a version of knoppix right now.
Well, I've got the girls that live across the hall from me using it.
They really like the game ksokoban that I have on my computer and they
wanted a way to play it on their own. After they tried and disliked
some windows based sokoban games, I showed them knoppix which lets them
play ksokoban on their own machines. The only problem is saving their
progress after restarting but I showed them how to back up their
ksokobanrc file onto one of my machines. Knoppix even comes with
OpenOffice installed. I was thinking that the club could hand out
copies of knoppix to kids that show interest in linux but haven't really
had a chance to see it yet. It does a very good job of showing off the
strong points of linux, and to do that from a CD and without a swap
partition is really impressive. Oh, I'm writing this email from the P90
laptop. It's kind of slow, but definitely usable. I'm using blackbox
as a WM, I'll probably switch to fluxbox in a bit. I've got to get X
configured better also...I've only got 8bit color now. But, spoofing
the MAC address worked. :o)
