Okay. So, we've gotten all of the officers to sign the registration
application for student clubs. That means that by tomorrow (when I hand
in the registration) we should actually be recognized as a club by the
school. This is real neat because we can start requesting the use of
rooms, webspace, and all the things that come along with being a club.
Now we have to pick a time to have a meeting. I think that having
meetings monthly is a good idea. This seems to work real well for LILUG
[1]. Deciding on what day and time to have the meetings is going to be
rough. There seem to be a few obvious options. We can have a meeting
once a month during campus lifetime (Wednesday 12:40 - 2:00). This
presents 2 problems: conflicts with other clubs' meetings, and it can be
difficult for people with actual jobs to get to. I hope that if the
meetings are only once a month that members might skip their other
meetings for that one week. We could hold a meeting once a month on any
given weekday, but hold the meeting during the evening (maybe after 6).
But, this could be hard for commuters to make. The idea of having
biweekly meetings with both of these options alternating has crossed my
mind. However, after bad experiences with two different meeting times
in the SBCS [2], I'm really hesitant to do this. I'm leaning toward
having the meetings once a week during campus lifetime. But, I want to
get a good idea of who is going to able to make these meetings. So,
voice your opinion. Oh, and while your at it voice whatever else you
like. We've got this mailing list up and we should be taking full
advantage of it damn it.
Tell all your friends,
Mark.
PS - I'll most likely be down at the SBCS barbecue that is being held on
wednesday at 1:00. I'm going to be handing out LUGSB fliers as long as
the SBCS guys will let me. Stop down and say hello.
