[LUGSB] Feelings on C# on linux?

Hey all,
I just finished up the first phase of a project. The entire project was
written in C on Linux. Now the others on the team want to port the code
over to C# before continuing work.
Does anyone know anything about the state of C# on Linux or worked with
it directly? I read through the mono page a bit but couldn't get a
feeling on whether the implementation was complete and how performance
is as compared to the microsoft implementation. I'd really hate to see
the project move towards this if there are going to be problems running
it on Linux.
Thanks alot,

My point was not even that C# is a cheap knockoff of Java..... my point
is... if something is already implemented in Language A, why waste time
reimplementing it in Language B?
