[LUGSB] samba

I believe you're referring to the microsoft network that is available on
campus that is used for sharing files. Network access isn't something
that samba is used for, but if you're looking to search for and share
files, then samba is what you need. I have only ever used samba once
and that was on a mandrake 9.0 machine. I remember on mandrake 9.0 it
was trivial to get connected and see a listing of machines on the
network. If I remember correctly it was all included in that mandrake
control center. I really don't want to get into a mandrake 9.0 specific
discussion because I don't even know what distribution you're using.
However, I did find a few how-to sites that you might find useful.

http://hr.uoregon.edu/davidrl/samba/
http://docs.linux.cz/howto/SMB-HOWTO.html
http://www.linuxorbit.com/howto/sambahowto.php3

But, samba is what you're looking for, and if you're using a newer,
desktop oriented distribution (mandrake 9, red hat 8, suse 8.1) I'm sure
there will be graphical tools to help you along.
