[LUGSB] System bell volume?

Every time I startup my laptop, Linux does a series of loud system bell
beeps as it loads up PCMCIA and all the modules.  Does anyone know how
to disable this?  Is it hardware-specific or a general thing to fix?
Everything I find online about disabling the system bell is specific for
disabling it in X-terminal shells.

I feel like an asshole making all these beeps in a quiet library all the
time :P
