I like Ogle, Marc demoed it last semester. It is easy to install and use.
Just make sure you have dma enabled on your DVD drive.
hdparm /dev/cdrom should have an entry that says "using_dma = 1", without
this your video will most likely skip.

There is also a sound mixer included in the standard RedHat install, so
there may be no reason for you to upgrade.

Gnumeric is also "excel"-like, but not as good as OpenOffice, but the
startup time of Gnumeric is quicker than OpenOffice.
RedHat should have openoffice. "oowriter" is the word processor, "oocalc"
is the spreadsheet (if you want to type in commands or can't find it on
the menus).

Does anyone know of a good GUI SFTP for Linux?

That should be rpm.
Given an RPM package you can type:
rpm -ivh foo-bar-1.2.3.i386.rpm
To install the file "foo-bar-1.2.3.i386.rpm". The -i is for install, -v
for verbose, and -h for hashes. If you have two programs that need each
other, just put them on the same command line.
Mozilla is one of your biggest friends, it will let you do web surfing and
downloading. I also like the interface better than explorer.

GFTP also does SFTP. When you get gFTP running, in the top right hand
corner there is a drop-down list that lets you choose a protocol from:
FTP, HTTP, Local, or SSH2. The SSH2 option is sftp.
--Mark.
