[LUGSB] Evolution Inbox Monitoring?

I'm using evolution for my mail client with Ximian GNOME.  I can add a
POP or IMAP mailbox checker to the GNOME panel, but I would like to have
something that is integrated with Evolution because when two imap
clients try to access one mailbox concurrently bad things happen.

What I really want is something like Outlook or Eudora does where you
have a mailbox/envelope in the system tray when you get new mail.

I'm beginning to use virtual desktops a bit, and would like to have
evolution off to the side, but don't want to have a lag between
receiving and being aware of email.
