Dear list,
I'm hoping this list is still active despite how quiet it's been in the
several days I've subscribed.
This fall I'll be starting a DMA at Stony Brook, moving from Greensboro, NC.
I've been a part of the Triangle LUG for a while, and now I'm looking for a
linux community in NY.
Linux-wise, I'm mostly a Mandriva guy. I use LE2005 mostly on my desktop and
laptop, and I have 10.0 Official on a number of servers. I use my personal
server for NAT, my website, file storage via samba and nfs, DNS, and an email
solution including imap, pop, multiple spam filters and web access. I'm
mostly just a user who likes to get his hands dirty to find better ways of
doing things.
On to my question, I would like advice on an ISP. I do not yet know where
I'll be living, but when the time comes, I'll need broadband. Currently I
use RoadRunner through Time Warner with a cable modem connected directly to
my mandrake server. It's important to me that ports not be filtered and that
I have reasonable speeds, with bonus points for higher than average upstream
speeds. What can you all suggest?
Thanks a lot,
Michael Hrivnak
