Lucas-
Sorry, maybe I spoke too soon. I couldn't get WEP to work with
ndiswrapper. At all. I also got wireless-tools version errors every
time I would enable/restart the network profile. I use this laptop in 2
different places, I had to disable encryption on both access points just
to connect! I was just glad to have a network connection at all.

I knew that this machine USED to work with madwifi - I distinctly
remember installing FC3 on this machine, installing madwifi from a .tar
file, setting up my SSID and hex passwords --and EVERYTHING worked
perfectly. I couldn't figure out what was wrong until... tonight.

I updated the kernel. From 2.6.9 to 2.6.12. I DID update the kernel
last week, but since I had all the wireless problems, I reinstalled FC3
(and forgot to update the kernel again). Now, all the NEW madwifi
*RPMs* work, it installed perfectly (put both the RPMS in the same
folder, #rpm -UVH madwifi*) and...

WEP WORKS AGAIN!

-- ps are you using FC3? --

A couple of notes:

1. Download the RPM for your kernel and architecture (links below)
2. Also download the right kernel modules
	ie I have FC3 and 2.6.12. I used
	madwifi-0.9.4.12-16.rhfc3.at.i386.rpm
and	madwifi-kmdl-2.6.12-1.1376_FC3-0.9.4.12-16.rhfc3.at.i686.rpm
3. Network Configuration (system-config-network) should handle the rest.
I don't have to use any terminal commands to set up a
connection/modify/add another profile/disable a profile. The Atheros
card itself pops up in Network Configuration, not ndiswrapper. Choose
your channel, WEP, SSID and you're surfing.

Use madwifi if you can, it is usually recommended over Windows drivers
in a wrapper.

Here are the files:
http://atrpms.net/dist/fc3/madwifi/
(find your distro there)

Good luck. Email again if there are any problems!
