Most servers include a checksum value along with the iso that you download.
Or a checksum file.  It should be as simple as "sha1sum -c SHA1SUM" when in
the same directory, and it should tell you if you are OK or not.  If you
want to further inspect the CD, the simplest way, so long as it boots to
some degree, is to use a media checking boot option that most linux
installers provide.
