Ubuntu users on campus,
Based on some unscientific empirical testing, I've found that
Northeastern university provides an Ubuntu package mirror that is quite
fast compared to many others out there, at least for on-campus users.
There's various ways to tell your Ubuntu machine to use their mirror,
but to keep it brief, my /etc/apt/sources.list now looks like this:
deb http://mirrors.ccs.neu.edu/archive.ubuntu.com/ edgy main restricted
universe multiverse
deb http://mirrors.ccs.neu.edu/archive.ubuntu.com/ edgy-updates main
restricted universe multiverse
deb http://mirrors.ccs.neu.edu/archive.ubuntu.com/ edgy-proposed main
restricted universe multiverse
deb http://mirrors.ccs.neu.edu/archive.ubuntu.com/ edgy-security universe
(Each entry beginning with 'deb' should be on a single line.)
