I'm not in charge of lugsb anymore, (Ilya the new president is - I'm
graduating mid-year) but let me answer your questions to me best knowledge.

The next meeting should be on the 28th.

I'm not sure, but I think almost any Linux distro that supports x86 should
work. As far as I know, Ilya wants to have an install fest soonish, but
you'd have to bug him about the details - he's on the list so he'll see
this.

Yes, being "forced" to use the system helps a whole lot when it comes to
learning how to use it.
