Jon,

what I do is simply route my IC mail to Gmail, and then use the IC  
SMTP server if I want to send mail from my IC account.  I do the same  
for my CS mail; it works great, and avoids any header headaches.

And if you need a sanitized GMail address, that's fine too!  Just have  
Gmail pull from your sanitized account to the one you regularly use,  
and then have your client know how to send using either.
