Ah, I thought I had checked that option, but I'll take another look.

Do not use POP3, it sucks and if you use all 500 methods to access your mail

That'll only work if I can expand my mail quota. But even if I can get the
admins to extend it, it'd go to what, maybe 100MB? Then I'd be in the same
situation if someone emails me a couple of large files. I think I'd be in a
better situation if I stopped using sparky as a permanent storage medium.


I knew that POP typically deletes things off the server. I made the mistake
of assuming that since I didn't see any option to uncheck this behavior, and
because I still saw the mail via the web interface immediately after
downloading it, I was safe. I deleted the local account on my client before
I realized that the mail was removed from the server, but later found the
directory where it was stored had not been erased, so I still have it all
backed up in some arcane format should I need to refer to it. Might as well
do the same to the rest of my mail, switch to POP, and retreat back into the
90s...
