Thats bizzare disabling LAN Boot ROM should not deactivate the network card. But
I've seen plenty bad bioses..

I have been able to scan for tv channels with KdeTV but tvTime quit whenever i start it. I tried using mplayer to play the video and got an error b4 it could start playing. Below is the output from dmseg for ivtv and also the output from mplayer /dev/video0

This is also not an error I'd ignore. Are you using XV? What graphics card?

I'd try to dump the capture card stream to file to see if you can play that
perhaps even on another machine. Then you'll know whether is a playing or
capturing issue.
