Hi, everyone,

Like I said in my last email, during this last LUGSB meeting, we will be
holding elections for the LUGSB Executive Board for Fall 2008 and Spring
2009. I hereby nominate myself for the position of President.

Our current President, Ilya Sukhanov, has done an outstanding job running
LUGSB these past two semesters. We've had interesting and lively meetings,
great talks, and lots of fun all around. I certainly want to continue that.

I also want to expand the awareness of Linux on campus. I want more CS
students to be better versed in Linux, and, with the continually
easier-to-use Linux distributions out there today, I want even non-CS
students to use Linux. LUGSB can be the platform to sustain that growth.

I want to foster better interaction between the CS clubs, especially SBCS.
SBCS is one the largest clubs in the department, and while in the past,
they've been a die-hard MS fanbase, computing is a general topic. I'd like
to see LUGSB members join the SBCS members who are tutoring for the low-level
classes - LUGSB is dependant on the CS department, and by giving back, we
only help ourselves. As the SBCS Secretary for next year, I'll have a close
tie to the rest of their E-Board and their members, and I think this
collaboration can bring benefits.

Finally, I would like to see more interaction between LUGSB and the general
Linux-using tech industry. I want to see Linux sys. admins and Linux
developers come and talk to LUGSB members. I want to see LUGSB members learn
how to contribute to external Open Source Software projects, in whatever way.

This platform of steady growth, started by Ilya and continued by me would
allow LUGSB, and thus, Linux, become a force to be reckoned with on campus.

Comments welcome! Thanks!
