Hi,
since this seems to be an ever reoccurring issue, maybe it would be a
good idea to finally get one or two short HOWTO's, maybe for mainstream
distributions like Ubuntu or Fedora on the university's help page for
this [1]. They already host a ridiculous list of HOWTO's (iphone,
WTF???) and I got the impressions that some people in DoIT actually care
about Linux.
Do we still have someone with a direct contact over there or would we
need to get this through the official channels?
There seem to be two popular ways to connect:
1) NetworkManager
2) direct pppd configuration
1) is pretty much their iphone setup, and for 2) one could trim Ilia's
HOWTO a bit (actually [2] does this already). I think this covers the
basics from where everyone could go further if needed. Volunteers for a
Fedora draft? ;)
Connectingly yours,
Benjamin
