Hello,
I think that your mail should be directed to some different mailinglist,
this list is about unionfs and not cloop

Nevertheless I'm creating liveCDs too so feel free to mail directly to me,
maybe I can help you.

In general, you don't need cloop to create a live CD... cloop is only used
in Knoppix, but there are several alternatives (cramfs, squashfs, etc).
Cramfs is already included in current kernels so if you don't mind some 
limitations
then you can start with it.
