[Unionfs] Using unionfs to create a writable file using a readonly
file as "baseline"

Hi
I'm looking for a tool to make a file on a read only filesystem writable
using a writable "cow-sparse-file" on another filesystem to write changes.
UML has this feature, but I really don't need a new linux instance runing, I
just want UML cow image feature.
Would unionfs do the trick ?
If not does anyone has a GPL solution for that ?
For curious people, I would like to use nilfs2 as data backend for iSCSI
luns, and be able to temporary create writable luns out of readonly files
from nilfs2 snapshots without copying the entire readonly file to the active
filesystem.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Best reagards
Michael
