Thanks (and thanks for the vote). They gave me the option of having the
two nominations or withdrawing one of the two, and we decided to go ahead and
withdraw "Fall," to avoid splitting the vote, and to allow another entry into
the field, which was apparently "12 Monkeys," which definitely deserves the
recognition of the nomination.

Joe !
We have just watched MoH here in the UK and a couple of technical points spring
to mind.
1 how much more advanced are the Centauri than EA ? the Blockade Mines seemed
to pick up the extremely advanced White Star quite quickly and yet the older
larger Minbari cruisers were not detectable by the EA during the Minbari War,
even Sinclair in Season 1believed that they still should not have been able to
pick up Minbari fighters ? Comments Welcome !!!
2 When Londo was talking to Morden in the bar, the chirping of the Shadows
communicating with him was previously heard by Sheridan in the ep ItSoZ while
Morden was in the cell, can only Morden hear this and was it just an
electronic fluke that Sheridan heard it ??.
Paul
PS I am unbelievably happy B5 is back, loved the anger on Mordens face for just
a few seconds before he smiles and says "ok" to Londo's request for him to
disappear

No, it's slightly audible to others, but is the sort of thing generally
lost in the crowd; we ignore stuff a lot.

Well, another great episode. I have loved the Arthurian legend since I saw
Camelot on stage in second grade. You did a great job of weaving this into the
B5 world.
We loved all the humor and light-heartedness that was sprinkled throughout the
episode, particularly Marcus and the G'Kar/Arthur connection. Gotta love that
lizard (and the actor behind him)! And I think everyone can relate to the Post
Office scenario (though here in South Dakota everyone is incredibly friendly
and they've gotta a Post Office like you've never seen before).
The use of Marcus in this episode was perfect and it was great to see Jason
Carter get more screen time. I had never thought about putting him and Dr.
Franklin together, but it was a great move. Once I thought about it, they have
quite a bit in common, and I hope their friendship is developed further.
And I thought that finally I could just feel happy about an episode, but then
you had to end it with the whole thing about Kosh being Merlin...and who is
Morgana LaFaye? That last line was quite ominous, particularly since Marcus
said it so off-handedly. Now, like Marcus, I am wondering, too.
While I have thoroughly enjoyed these "breathers," I am looking forward to
geting back to the more heavily arc-related episodes.

Thanks, and yes, Marcus and Franklin make a good team, it's a nice
balance. And Marcus did fit in well with the whole Arthur storyline (it's kind
of an obvious but well-fitting match).
As for Marcus' line...sometimes offhand remarks are only offhand
remarks...and sometimes they aint....

Joe - I've seen you mention that you really like episodes that "sneak up" on
you, like "Dust to Dust". Just wanted to say that I saw "Late Delivery from
Avalon" and it was very much one of these "sneak ups"... and it's also one of
my favorites to date. A very, VERY nice episode; Michael York was terrific,
and it was so incredibly subtle. And that shot in the fourth act with Delenn
and the sword... just terrific.
Another terrific episode. (And, might I add, some nice foreshadowing, i.e.
"Then who's Morgan LeFay?" If I read my spoilers correctly... well, never
mind. <g>)
Cheers!

Thanks, I like this one a lot. Not really an arc episode, except in
going into some backstory elements, but just nicely done. I'm quite proud of
this one.

>>since the last time we were in Hugo contention, the splitting of votes cost
us the award (combined votes would've been enough going in to win), the folks
gave us the option of withdrawing one of the two<<
Is this a standard practice, or is it unprecedented? Or am I putting a wrong
spin on it?

Please help answer the following question:
When Babylon 5 seceded from EA, wasn't one of the ships named Roanoke.
According to some people I talked to, the name was chosen because JMS was
trying to get away from Greek names
But why name a ship after an Indian name for $
It can't be some sort of in joke is it? I mean, Roanoke used to be called
Big Lick, and it is now known as the Stat City of the South, cos it has a big
ole electric star on a mountain.
Maybe it's just one of those happy coincidences. Anyone know?

President Clark got away from the tradition of using Greek names. And
the Roanoke was a Virginia colony that disappeared in the 1600s.

Speaking of Londo's accent, I'm assuming that different Centauri accents
represent people from different areas of the planet? Londo and Refa have a
similar accent (vaguely eastern European), Vir has a standard American accent,
and the guy at the beginning of the episode has a British-sounding accent.
Anything significant in all this, or just a bit of differentiation?

No, we've just always assumed that not everyone on any given planet is
going to speak with the same accent as everybody else from that planet. Seems
more realistic.
Certainly, among Centauri, a certain accent is more associated with the
"old school" of court nobility and the like.

I just got back from Starfest 96 (Denver) and I've got just one thing
(okay, okay) two or three things to say.
First and foremost...............Jerry Doyle has got a bright future in show
business. He is one of the funniest, zaniest, looniest, and yes smartest
people I've ever had the pleasure to listen to. His Q&A this afternoon was a
show stopper. Kate Mulgrew was good, but Jerry......well he stole the show.
(BTW the auditorium was PACKED for this.) I lucked out and got a press seat in
the front row; somethin' I won't soon forget!
The second is.........How do you keep your cast in a serious mood for
stuff??<g>. This man could be a smash hit on the standup circuit.
He is a great ambassador for Babylon5, and a good man.
Last thing........B5's reception here was excellent. While not a ton of things
revolving around it yet, the buzz of people moving about wasn't Trek. It
was.....did you see Severed..... what do you think's gonna happen to "......"
(b5).
The movement is turnin' into a wave. Now if only, as Jerry put it, "we could
get the dad-blamed show in to a "god-damned" decent timeslot so the ratings
could really soar. Alas this is/was the biggest complaint, especially from the
Q&A. People have to mine for this jewel of a show. The fact the ratings are
as good as they is testament to absolute devotion of the fans.
The Rocky mountain region is showing great support, but its really hard
to find the program. I hadn't realized how hard until I heard some of the
horror stories from fans from outside of the Denver area. (here we get it
twice, on Saturday and repeated on Sunday.)
Keep up the work Joe

p.s. I did an interview with the Denver Post regarding the convention.
(introduction through a mutual friend who is a Magic:The Gathering artist) and
I made sure that you were given a good plug. Must have interested the
reporter, he let me talk about B5 for over ten minutes, while the main thrust
of the interview was regarding ID4. He was typing the entire time and actually
asked me to repeat some of it. Just spreadin' the word.
You take care o' da' wrists my man!

Thanks for the report. Yeah, Jerry and all the cast are great when it
comes to performing for audiences and off-the-cuff comments. They're very
funny when they want to be. We're an iconoclastic bunch.
