Dear JMS,
This is probably a stupid question, but . . .

Are the books considered "official" B5 plot? By that, I mean,
are they fully sanctioned as part of the B5 "franchise"? If something
occurs in one of the books, do we assume that that occurrence is really
"real"? (well, to the extent that _anything_ is "real" in B5!).
The reason I ask is that I've read some of the Star Trek books,
and they frequently contain elements that contradict other ST books or
the various ST series. There seems to be no real "quality control" over
the ST books. Does B5 have more control over what's printed, in order
to make sure that it doesn't contradict the series or other books?
	Just curious.

Thank you for the response. I certainly understand the physical
impossibility of maintaining _absolute_ continuity, but it's good to
know that I should regard the printed stories as canon, more or less.

My theory is that *in general* the novels and comics tend to be canon, but
the details may not always be, mainly because it's virtually impossible to
ride herd on every single line of all this the way I do the show. It
physically can't be done. But where possible, we keep it as close to
cointinuity as possible.
