> PTEN is being restructured

  Joe,

In business these days, the term "restructured" usually means
"fire a bunch of the workers and make the remaining ones do twice
the work".

> if it should cease to be, WB domestic syndication will take over
> all shows like B5 and Kung Fu.

Does this mean such shows will continue to be syndicated
independantly of the WB Network? (Kosh knows that the WB Network
could use a *few* good shows - "Pinky and the Brain" is a goodie
<g>).

Yes, syndication is a completely different entity from the WB
Network.

Hiya Joe--

Trapped here in the Slough of Despond-- the tail-end of the rerun
situation-- I found myself pondering aspects of the Garibaldi &
Talia relationship. I've got some questions, if'n you don't mind.

1) [Out of Story] Did you, as chief cook and bottle washer,
decide against persuing the G/T relationship too far because Jerry
and Andrea were married out here in the Real World(tm)?

2) [In the Story] Did the unTalia "shunt" Talia v.1.0 away from
Garibaldi? If so, why? Fear of discovery? Optimum choice of
targets?

3) [In the Story] Did Talia v.1.0 just genuinely dislike
Michael?

4) Some combination thereof?

Knowing your Vorlon nature, I suspect either #4 or {beeble
warble clang} Yes. {chime ring crash}

BTW, has the Orkin man paid a visit to n'grath?

Basically, the answer to all of the questions is "no."

> The first one up, "Voices of Authority," is an absolute hoot

Neat - since I had to relean how to program a VCR (got a new one
- same company, different format) I taped the last episode
(Gethshemane) just to see if it would work (since school happens
at B5 time) and I couldn't resist checking out the coming
attractions for new episodes. Voices looks interesting - and now I
wish I didn't peek :) But I also noted the web page information
included at the end. Is this more a Warner Brothers thing or a
Babylon5 thing?

> Second, today is Michael O'Hare's first day of shooting here on
> the B5 stages for the two-parter, featuring his return to the

How many episodes away is this 2-parter? And good to see that its
actually happening - and all the word about a friendly departure
was true. Not that I ever doubted! :>

The web as it currently exists is more of a Warners thing.

The two-parter covers episodes 16 and 17 in the schedule. So far
we've aired 4.

                                                                  jms

> Yes, then repeats after sweeps.

:( so how many weeks for this one?

Sometimes I wish sci-fi tv was as moronic as the average sitcom -
at least more episods could be aired back to back. Or do sitcoms
go to reruns as often as B5 and the treks and I just don't notice
since, well, they are moronic sitcoms and B5 isn't?

Oh well - what's the run-down on the reruns - season 3 I assume?

BTW, just to let you know, I visited the Official B5 Web page
yesterday.

Pretty neat stuff ! Downloaded a few of the character .AVI files
(What? No backup ? What's wrong with you ! ;Garabaldi) and did
some general snooping around.

The .AVI preview for "Voices of Authority" has gotten me all
primed-up for the batch of new episodes !!! The Ianovia eye-zoom
to space show looked fantastic!

One more week to go.......One more week to go.........

Couple more direct questions (see folks he does answer them
sometimes)...

Why was Lennier chosen to serve Delenn, what set him apart?

Was Knight One's comment about "Maybe we're still inside"
something we should worry about, or just the ravings of a damaged
mind?

What ever happened to the Home Guard?

Why did Jack (Garabaldi's aid not Sebastian) say "I've never met
a Psi Cop before" to Bester when we know he was up to his neck in
the Conspiracy?

Lastly, what is Bester's first name? (just curious).

I also wanted to make the observation that these episodes really
do hold up in the face of all you have done since. Sure, Londo's
accent isn't quite as good as it is now, the makeup is better, and
the CGI is a little less detailed, but *so much* of what is
introduced is still valid. The only continuity hiccup is the
Minbari (both Delenn and Lennier) constantly leaving the Worker
Caste out of all calculations (though they could just be snobs).
In all, that a first season could be that good and that contiguous
is just astounding.

Phil^^^^ FREE MARS!

Home Guard found other venues. Bester's first name is Alfred.
And Jack was speaking correctly; his contacts were not psi-corps in
nature.

Is that a Good or a Bad thing? Will it affect the video tape
gridlock in some way?

No, it'll have no effect on the videos either way, and is
probably neither a good nor a bad thing; it should be a wash.

Joe,
I was reading collections of your previous posts from the
Hyperion FTP site. In one message you mentioned there was a
"mistake" which you spotted in the film. You wanted to go back and
re-shoot but you were told "Relax. You're over-reacting. *No* one
will spot this." At the time of the post, you were rather chuffed
to say that no-one had.
Some one asked what it was, and you said you wouldn't say
just yet.

Well? Can you tell us what it was? Or has it disappeared from
memory?

It's the overhead shot of the courtroom; we didn't have a second
establisher, so we used the one of Kyle even though Sinclair was on
the stand.
