Completely un-B5 related question here, but I do remember that the
only non-B5 picture in your office is a MST3K pic, so I was curious in
your oodles of free time if you saw any of the new episodes and what you
thought of 'em.
Personally, I really missed TV's Frank in the season 7 (I'm a Frank
fan, if you couldn't tell from my e-mail address) and was more than a
bit nervous about the loss of Trace Beaulieu as Dr. F and Crow, but so
far I think they've been pretty good. I like the fact they addressed
the voice change and the traveling through different SF epics looks like
a good concept.

I'm delighted that they didn't just plug in a new set of mad scientists and
let the show continue ad infinitum -- and what's more, the new setting of
the show allows for a lot more variety in the host segments. Now I want to
tune in not just to see what jokes they're making, but what the characters
are doing. In my book, that's an _improvement_ over the old MST3K.

I've only seen the first 2 installments (the second 2 are on tape,
awaiting a time when I have 4 hours to spend), and I think they're doing
well. The new Crow is generally okay, though the person doing the
voice/puppetry (his name just fell out of my head) needs to animate him a
bit more. Trace understood that you have to make Crow a living character,
and it ain't just the voice. Crow had very visual and expressive
movements, which so far the new guy hasn't quite gotten yet.
I wasn't that impressed with Dr. Forrester's mom in the previous season,
but she seems to be doing well now that she's out on her own, much more
interesting.
I still miss Trace, though...he added a LOT to that show's edge.
