Joe,
You're gonna actually do it after all? <g> I love it!!

called as evidence in any sanity trial that might take place in future.<<
<G> Yes, I have indeed been considering the stress factor for you
lately. I read the article in the latest Sci Fi Universe magazine, and
honestly, I don't know how you do it all. God, talk about stress!

I think Jerry has other commitments...
As for the pilot, initially Delenn was going to be a male Minbari who
came out of the chrysalis female...but due to our inability to modify Mira's
voice enough to make it work, we dropped that aspect.

Joe,
I've been re-watching the last few episodes from Season 3, and the beginning of
4. And I'm still going crazy trying to decide this. It's rerun season, please
help a poor woman who is about to jump out a window in sheer frustration.
1. Was Lorien the man in between?
2. Was Sheridan the man in between?
3. Was Justin the man in between?
Okay, if you won't answer those three, then will you answer the following?
4. Was Refa the one who was already dead?

other sundry stuff. I *think* there's also an autograph thing afterward, but
can't be sure offhand.

Fm: J. MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI
"Why were they so interested in you directing?"
Well, they know the show is really my vision, and they're curious what it
would look like if it was also followed through behind the camera. And as our
liaison with WB said, "We like it when our creative people spread their wings a
little." They like the show, and it does well for them, and they're just
generally supportive that way.

Fm: ROB CARR
One minor thing that's been bugging me.
In order to support your position, you have stated that you would be willing to
be permanently disqualified from consideration for the dramatic Nebula. It
shows your honesty, and the honesty of those who also have said they will do
the same.
But who would want to win such an award? It would have to be called the "Award
for the Best Script, Except for Those Three Things JMS Wrote This Year That
Might Have Beaten It If They Had Been Considered, And Then There's These Other
Scripts We Had To Ignore...."
Back when I ran Cross Country in college, we had a name for those: Cheap
Medals. Something not worth taking home. When you win one, you feel sort of
dirty for winning it.
One of the defining moments in my relationship with my wife came when we ran a
road race together. Normally, I am the better runner, but she was having a
fantastic day. In the last 100 meters of the 10K we were virtually even. I
had a stronger kick, but she was forcing me to take the outside of the turns -
I had to run farther. Just before the finish line, I moved to pass and she
countered, causing me to fall. She finished before I did, and I slid the last
2 meters across the finish line. Beating me meant something because she knew I
didn't let her win. That was the day she decided to marry me.
What's it mean if you let someone else win?
Rob

Sb: #655838-to sfwa from jms
Fm: J. MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI
Well, for starters, I don't think it would be letting someone else win;
nominees would be submitted, and the best of that batch of nominees would win
in head-to-head competition. We've been bypassed for the occasional Emmy
nomination even though I think some of the work done that year in those areas
was at least as good as anything done elsewhere...does that diminish the kudos
to the ones who *did* win?
Beyond which...even if SFWA *were* to start working on restoring the
dramatic nebula -- the chances of which are roughly equivilent to an ostrich
giving birth to an iguana -- it would take them a couple of years minimum to do
it, by which time B5 is over anyway, and who knows if any later work of mine
will be in the SF area at that point anyway? (It's likely, but one never do
know...I ended up on Murder She Wrote for 2 years, remember.)
Either way...my concern is the principle at work here. If disqualifying
or refusing the Neb myself is the only way to ensure that this ain't a personal
agenda, and thus make the road easier for somebody else down the road, then
that's jake by me. But, as stated, the odds of this are slim and none.

[ Summary: Asks JMS which of his B5 characters is his favorite. ]

Sb: #655839-Is The Great Maker Here?
Fm: J. MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI
I'd be hard to pick an absolute favorite; I like all of them, for various
reasons, and at various times. If you put a gun to my head, I'd say it was
probably either Delenn or Londo, because of the many shades to their
characters. They're like crystals, they change color and texture depending on
how the light shines through them.
