>> Negative; season 5 would take place in 2262, 19 years before the "final
scene" you mention.

Now you're really confusing me. (but I now know that the scene in question is
19 years from now).

So, how do you do a Season 5 if Season 4 is already in the can? (do you have
this response on a hot key yet?)

       Stop sending this to me.

Let me be clear: I have received letters on this situation from just
about every side, each con accusing the other of being somehow inferior, or
screwed up, and each asking me to "take sides" in this.

I do not know the German situation enough to comment any further. And I
will not, let me repeat that, WILL NOT be pulled into fan feuds or convention
disagreements, unless I happen to have *personal* experience with the
situation. I do not.

This is the last reply I will make on this.

.... should we presume that there was something important in that
message from Lise that Garibaldi deleted unread?

Fm: REBECCA ESCHLIMAN

Having finally had a chance to sit down and watch "Conflicts.." again,I was
struck by how the Ivanova-thread seemed to be a key to the rest -- the search
for power. The conflicts and the interest were all about power -- who has it
over whom, and what do they do with it. Garibaldi's position in this power play
is so achingly ambiguous. He has the power to restore a daughter to a father,
but after that he has to cede power to Sheridan via Zach, to Wade, and
ominously, possibly to Edgars. Zach powerless to help his friend and later
more powerful (knowledge is power). G'Kar and Mollari are at an equilibrium of
power, at least for the moment. The whole Wade-thread revolved around
telepaths, which have their own power, but apparently are vulnerable to a new
power. Garibaldi's beef against Sheridan is about misappropriated power. The
Voice of Babylon 5 is the power of the truth.

I've gotten now so that new eps make me pay attention to some technical pattern
-- In "Lines.." it was the prominence of visual lines -- the gridlines of the
War Room map, the lines formed by ships' firing weapons, and even Marcus'
dotted-line movement of the Minbari fighting wand. In "Conflicts..." I became
aware of the various lighting effects (not inappropriate -- power is needed to
provide light) -- the searchlights of the landing shuttle, the fan-interrupted
strobe effect of the tunnel lighting, Sheridan and Zach in the dark, the glow
of the viewscreen with Daffy Duck (in which the "Who Are You" question makes an
unusual return), the wide-open brightness of the War-Room-Turned-Studio, the
staccato punctuation of the PPGs firing into the ductwork. It makes for such a
dimensional way to watch television -- shifts from passive to active.

Random Thoughts:

Garibaldi's intro scene underlined that there has to be a Garibaldi Version 1.0
still somehow in the picture -- that compassion is probably not a hallmark of
mind-meddling technology.

Lise for Garibaldi is a reminder of a far simpler conflict than he is currently
facing, or will face. "We are different people now." -- And how. His deletion
of her last message is a recognition that she no longer has power over him (at
least for the moment).

Had Garibaldi still been chief of security, he would probably have
*automatically* checked for extra identicards.

Favorite line -- "Facts don't get in the way of a good panic."

The Truth Is Back in Business -- somehow I don't think so, in the big picture,
but following the squirrely paths of untruths and quasi-truths is part of the
fun.

sir,

due to some unfortunate circumstances, we were delayed in watching both Lines
of Communication and Conflicts of Interest - which in itself turned out to be
fun, cause I've never before seen two hours in a row of new material :) Good
stuff in both, seemed alot more like the pre-Shadow/Vorlon climax days of onion
skin peeling plot unveiling...

Anyhow, quick question on the missing daughter - please don't interpret this as
criticism of the actress, but I gotta ask - was that the person who won the
walk-on last year (as I remember it, there was a contest with Delenn where
someone was going to win a 4th season walk on, but I don't remember hearing
much about who won, or what episode they'd be seen in)?? I ask because it
seemed like you deliberately "simplified" that character by making her mute,
and at the time, I couldn't think of a good reason for that particular problem
for that character (yes her speechless hugging of Garibaldi was a nice moment,
but still)... just curious... (if that wasn't the winner, can you say what
happened with that contest?)

Great episode, as usual. We were laughing so hard when Sheridan's plan to get
the League on board became evident to us. Nice contrast to the Delenn plot.

I'm exhuasted, but just had to tell one thing I really appreciated about the
episode: Neroon.

Any character can "act" good, but usually the audience knows or suspects he is
bad. But you had me really believing that he might have had a change of heart,
particularly based upon his ultimate response to Delenn's becoming Entil'zha in
a previous episode (the name of which I am too tired to recall). Oh, I wasn't
ready to trust him lock, stock and barrel, but I thought maybe, just maybe
there was a chance for things to work out. And then, boom, you blow away any
hopes of such a chance! Super writing, and super acting by the actor playing
Neroon.

There are other things I really like about the episode, but I'm off to
zzzzzzz-land soon.

Joe,

With the release of the first 2 episodes of Season 3 on video over here in the
UK, some shops are packaging a Behind-the-scenes documentary along with it. I
found it very interesting albeit short. Obviously it was intended for
television (it's not hard to spot where the ads should be), however my question
is this:-

Was it ever broadcast and considering it is 3 years old (only Season 1
featured) are there any more B5 Behind-the-scenes programs out there or
planned?

I think that's the one made for the US and broadcast here prior to
season 1 (with Walter Koenig, yes?).
