I noticed in your previous reply about Dickens that you
practically quoted a wonderful series on The Learning Channel called
"Great Books". There was a "Great Books" marathon this weekend, and
the programs wanted to make me go out and get EVERY one of them :)
I noticed another similarity that wasn't noted in your reply.
Dickens used public reactions to his books as a way to steer them in
another direction. We can only wonder what Master Dickens would have
done with an Internet connection...
Of course, you too have made me go out and get a few books. I
just finished Alfred Bester's "The Demolished Man".
Never before have I found a book so hard to put down. The
pacing of the novel was amazing...and Bester's use of language and
clever manipulation of type-setting was ingenious.
I never would have read this book without you pointing me in
the right direction.
Thanks!

Probably would've gone mad after a while and carved up the chimney sweep
with an axe.
