How do you know the episodes were awful?
As far as I know, the only change was in design and all it caused is the
moving around of a few episodes.
And they also added a new first episode.

Nothing was reshot to be inserted into prior episodes.  The episodes are being
aired as originally written and edited.  No changes have been made, no
additional material filmed.
