Two points I'd like to make:
First, I think you answered your own question about why the people of
Palm Beach
weren't told how many votes were thrown out in 1996 until now. NOBODY
knew
about it until now. I'll assume the votes were counted by computer and
thrown out
by a computer as well. Do we have any reason to believe that any human
knew what
this figure was until now?
Second, according to what I gathered from listing to CNN last night.
The 2000 ballot
was a whole new design and doesn't reflect what the ballot looked like
in 1996. They
did show a 2000 ballot and I don't recall anyone showing what the 1996
ballot looked
like, so I have no personal knowledge of this. Also the 14000 to 15000
figure that
you are throwing around, was pointed out by two separate democrats as
the number
released by the republicans. Both of them insisted the the actual
number was "about
half that number". So I might question does anyone, even today, know
how many
votes were thrown out in Palm Beach is 1996? I sure don't.
Later,
Carl
P.S. Below are your two relevant posts......

1) Why did they not tell the people of Palm Beach this in 1996 since
it's
aberration for the *state* but not for this *county*?
2) WHY were 15,000 thrown out in 1996 in this one county, WHAT makes
this so
different from every other county, and WHY did they keep this to
themselves
until *right now*? If you lived in a county and knew that every big
election
15-19,000 of your votes wouldn't count, wouldn't YOU want something done
to
bring the system THERE into sync with the rest of the state?

Not to mention that nobody KNEW about it until now.

Not logical. If nobody knew about it -- NOBODY -- then how could they find out
about it now? Somebody had to have those figures for them to be cited. Who
was asked? Who wrote them down? Somebody knew.
