This is a message from the maintainer of B5JMS and B5JMS-DIGEST.

I have been the maintainer of the B5JMS (and B5JMS-DIGEST) list for over
five years. During that time, we have seen some of the most fascinating
storytelling on TV. I enjoyed providing this service and maintaining the
list. But it is now time for me to move on. Primarily, I have a new job
that demands much of my time, and can no longer afford to spend time
maintaining this list. Therefore, I am planning to turn off the two B5JMS
lists at the end of January 2001, about three weeks from now.

If someone has experience maintaining lists and wants to step into this role
and maintain this list, I'll be happy to help you do so. Just drop me a
note and I'll let you know what is involved in detail. The posts to the
list itself are automated: a nightly job pulls JMS's Usenet posts and sends
them to the list. There are a couple of questions each week from people
asking how to un/subscribe, for which I have standard answers. The most
amount of work this list requires is tracking down email bounces from
defunct addresses and manually unsubscribing them from the list; I've
automated some of this, but there's more that has to be done manually each
week. I'm currently using the Majordomo list manager. The subscribership
is over 3,000 people.

Sincerely,
B5JMS Poster.
