JMS is back to USENET!

This is a note from the maintainer of B5JMS and B5JMS-DIGEST.

*** The SHORT version:

JMS is back. Lots of new messages from JMS on the way. You may prefer the
digest list format (un/subscribing instructions reproduced below).

*** The DETAILED version:

Fellow subscribers, after more than 4 months since JMS resigned from rastb5,
he is back to USENET --- using the newly created rastb5.moderated newsgroup.
Those of you who have followed rastb5m have noticed that while discussion
has been much "nicer", the new group is quickly becoming rather voluminous.
I have recorded over 400 new messages in the past 24 hours alone! All this
tells me that a forum which provides only messages from JMS is still very
much useful.

As such, I am finally resuming the primary function of B5JMS --- the main
reason I've created it and wrote the (perl) scripts for --- to pick out JMS'
message from USENET, correlate them with whomever they replied to, and send
out a small "thread". That was the way B5JMS was working back before JMS
resigned in November of last year.

Note that the primary B5JMS mailing list has ALWAYS been intended for
individual messages from JMS, which were sent as soon as they were
available. Whatever Compuserve/AOL digests you have seen on B5JMS recently
have come in as one message to me, and I was unable to break them into
individual messages. But the threads I will be generating from JMS on
rastb5.moderated, will all be relatively short (as compared to a digest).

There are over 60 (sixty!) short messages from JMS on the way to you, which
my scripts will send out in the next 24 hours. Don't be alarmed about the
volume. 60 messages will be sent only because I'm now re-initializing B5JMS
to use rastb5.moderated, and JMS has been posting there for almost one week.
Normally JMS sends only a few messages per night on average (he's got a show
to produce, you know... :-)

If you prefer not to get many small messages, but rather one larger digest,
I would recommend that you unsubscribe from B5JMS, and then resubscribe to
B5JMS-DIGEST. The digest gets sent as soon as there is enough volume
(usually around 40,000 characters). I have included general instructions
below.

Enjoy the incoming barrage of JMS messages.
