There is another class, actually... it's like the Aggy, except no rotating
section. We saw it in GroPos, General Franklin's ship.

I think those are dreadnoughts (check out _Voltayre's_B5_Encyclopedia_
Xenobiologica_ under Technology:Ships or something like that). I think
they're the older capitol ships (one appears in the episode where we see
Dukhat killed, along with some Hyperion-class cruisers).

The EA could've taken a successful design, "cut-and-pasted" on the drawing
board, and "tadaa! The Omega-class destroyer". It's not too far-fetched -
The US Navy has done similer things. Spruance-, Kidd- and Ticonderoga-class
ships all have the same basic hull design. One of our supply ship designs
was actually created by cutting an existing ship in half (port to starboard)
and welding in an extra hull section.

Whatever... I'm rambling... Way past the Hour of the Wolf, I guess...

I think the design you are talking about is called the Nova Class
Dreadnought. They've beed seen in GROPOS and in Atonment with some
Roosevelt Class CA's.

IMHO, the Omega is an updated version of the older Nova. They took
out most of the Nova's offensive punch, replaced them with more fighters and
a rotating habitat/command section, and added the heavy laser technology.

If George is listening, could you give us the story?

You have it substantially correct. (Even though i have been known to
get it confooosed from time to time- too many hours, not enough pillows)

The Nova Class Dreadnaughts have been around for quite a long time, but
are getting a "sprucing up" for further development. As we discovered in
our own navy, there is a need for several classes of ship of varying
sizes.

The Omega Class are the next development in that series. The habitat
section was added, as well as more armored sections. There is a further
development of that class under discussion. You can also see some
design elements of the class contained in the Cortez.

The newer ships under development are all of smaller classes, like the
Olympus Class Corvette, the Badger heavy fighter, and the Cotten Class
Deep Penetration Tender. We will see these participate heavily in the
second of the TNT movies.
