JMS,

I am curious to know what makes you laugh out loud, and which
authors, tv shows, or just which type of humour do you like?

Thanks

(I like the way you are not afraid of letting us laugh at your
characters sometimes. Authors seem to think we won't take their
characters seriously if we laugh at them, but to me it makes them seem
more real, and demonstrates confidence in them.)

I like humor that surprises me...unexpected twists and turns of logic on the
one hand, and just in-your-face screaming out loud humor on the other hand.
George Carlin is a favorite. For reasons I do not fully understand, Buddy
Hackett (of all people) leaves me absolutely breathless and on the floor. Sam
Kinneson had a much similar effect. Dennis Miller's black-and-white HBO
half-hour destroyed me; utterly hysterical.
