Thanks for the info on the tapes. And I will keep it in mind, should
Columbia decide to discontinue them. But right now my annoyance at having WB
start with the videos ( and now waiting until August, by which time I'll be
well into season one) once people have already started collecting them is sort
of overriding my cheepskate gene. <g>
I think I have a worry here that sales for BOTH won't be enough to
support both - two companies are now splitting the business - and they'll both
become spotty. I hope this isn't the case. For now, I will err on the side
of consistency. But thank you, I do appreciate it.

On the other hand, as far as I know, Columbia only acquired the rights
to sell the first season, because they weren't sure how it would all work out.
So it might dovetail well into the WB tapes for the episodes thereafter.

That is interesting. I was led to believe by the rep I spoke with
that they would put out all four past seasons. <f> This does cast a
different light on things. I don't appreciate being misled.

I don't think misled is the word...I think they were intent upon
acquiring them down the road, but now that WB is doing all of them, that may
become more problematic.

ISN. Internet Straczynski Network, with hot links to web-TV downloads and live
chat during the broadcast, all on the same TV screen. The frightening thing is

Funny thing is...I've written about 200 or so produced episodes of TV.
Assuming a bit over one third of that is animation, figure 80 half hours and
120 one-hour shows...that's 160 hours of TV...the average network programs
series from 8-11 p.m. 7 days a week, that's 21 hours a week...so it would fill
8 weeks of prime-time programming on one network, plus the five B5 movies.
Suddenly I have the profound urge to take a nap....

No, the first episode will be of normal length. A Call to Arms is
primarily a B5 movie, which sets the incidents in place that lead to Crusade,
which then hits the ground running with its first episode, regular length,
same as the other 21 TNT has signed for.

I've always enjoyed reading "the making of..." type books like David Bassom's
"Creating Babylon 5", the "Art of Star Wars" books, and those about ILM. As a
fan of B5 and the universe that has been created, I would love to see a behind
the scenes look at what it (insert correct future past-tense verb here)
[took?] to get Crusade made.
After seeing some of the pre-production sketches, and the glimpse of the
virtual sets on TNT's web site, I really want to know more about the details
that take place from initial scriptwriting to the time we see the finished
product on the screen.
With a new series it be great to get a peek at the various ideas that went
into scripts that set-up the series, the production designs and those that
didn't quite cut it and why, the artistic influences, casting, virtual sets,
the things that Babylonian Productions and Netter Digital had to do to realize
those ideas, the casting, the headaches the producers suffered, etc...
Is there a chance something like that might come to fruition? I guess this is
more a request than an actual question.<g>

Thanks...it's been a hard road, but in the final analysis, it was the
right thing to do.
But it does illustrate the weaknesses in the Usenet system, however well
intentioned, that I've practically *never* had to post a note like that here
on Compuserve, which doesn't allow such behavior.
